About

Scott P.

I'm a software developer based in the UK. My day-to-day is mobile apps and websites; outside of that I build plenty of my own projects - mobile and desktop apps, plus the odd script to solve problems I run into.

Most of what I build starts as a problem I have myself - that's usually the spark. I like keeping the tools I depend on off the cloud and self-hosted where it makes sense, though the projects themselves run wherever suits them best. I'm also an advocate for the responsible use of AI in the work I do.

Background

I'm entirely self-taught. I first wrote code back in 2006 and have considered myself a developer since around 2010, with my first full-time role in early 2018. I started out in Delphi - long since retired - before moving into JavaScript, jQuery and Node in 2014. TypeScript came along in 2018 and has been my language of choice ever since.

Beyond code

Outside of coding, I'm into PC gaming - a fairly narrow but well-loved set of titles - and photography.
